Are the instruments telling the true story? WMI is well versed in the specification of the most appropriate equipment to characterise the wind climate of your site. WMI takes a pragmatic view on the necessary instrumentation, informed by the likely project value and requirements for bankable data.
Wind Measurement International offer a range of instruments to measure wind speed, turbulence, wind shear, wind direction, pressure, temperature and humidity. The instruments meet the demands of the large wind farm developer to the cost-sensitive small wind turbine owner. The instruments are matched with a range of robust loggers to record and transmit the data.
Wind Measurement International supplies Campbell Scientific, Ammonit and Nomad2 loggers. All our loggers can be programmed to send SMS warning texts warning of instrument malfunction. All loggers are supplied with an appropriate photo-voltaic charging system and GSM modem to give year round, stand alone, reliable data access up into the North Hebredes.
These ancilliary instruments measure the detailed wind climate properties to provide a greater certainty of the wind energy potential of a site and the operating environment of the future turbine(s).
LIDAR technology (Light Detection and Ranging) is a ground-based laser system that measures the wind profile from 10 m to 200 m. Wind Measurement International has chosen the ZephIR LIDAR system as offering the most bankable data.
WMI offer a range of masts from 10 m tilt-up tubular to 150 m lattice. WMI can assist in the selection of the most appropriate mast for your site given the expected project value and financial constraints.
As well as bespoke packages, Wind Measurement International offers a range of standard wind measurement packages to suit the smaller developer's requirements at a cost-effective price.
